The publishers behind a forthcoming Daft Punk chronicle, After Daft: The Rewiring of 21st Century Culture, have released a long list of high-profile interviewees and contributors who feature in the book, which slated to land next year.

Written by journalist, author and DJ Mag contributor Gabriel Szatan, the text looks at the inner workings and artistic appeal of Daft Punk, and wider cultural, musical and technological changes of the past 30 years. Pulled together from more than 250 hours of conversations with over 60 artists and affiliates, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, 2manydjs, CSS, Optimo, Boys Noize, DJ Minx, The Avalanches, Peaches, Dillon Francis, Annie Mac, Porter Robinson, Tiga, and Todd Edwards are among those who appear in the book.

The last ever interview with late-Chicago house luminary Paul Johnson also features, along with input from a number of other artists name-checked in Daft Punk's seminal shout-out track, 'Teachers'. Daniel Vangarde, father of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, makes an appearance, as do the team behind Chicago's legendary Smartbar venue, and production crew from the historic Alive world tour. A slew of French electronic icons — Fred Falke, Kittin, Vitalic, Madeon, Busy P, DJ Falcon and Kavinsky - also offer input.

“As a music lover, it makes me genuinely excited to see all these names come together under one roof. Where else would it be possible for duos Air and TNGHT to co-exist, Stevie Wonder’s right-hand man Nathan East to meet ‘90s techno heavyweight Neil Landstrumm, or Peaches and Paul Williams to sit side-by-side? To tally the full scope of the A.D. era, you need to place as much emphasis on the After as the Daft," said Szatan.

"We went into the project wondering: what if there was a fresher and more compelling way to frame this transformative age in culture? That’s why After Daft is artist-led, to tell an authentic story through the eyes of those who shaped it: musicians from different backgrounds and disciplines whose lives interacted in fascinating ways, undersung creatives who oil the industry machine, as well as countless artists that thrived as the ceiling was raised on dance and electronic music’s creative possibilities and immense global popularity," he added.

After Dark will arrive in spring 2024 via John Murray Press/Hachette, and is available to pre-order now.
