DJ Babatr, Venezuelan raptor house pioneer, announces debut vinyl release, 'The Tribe (Baila)'

Caracas-based producer and pioneer of the raptor house sound DJ Babatr is lining up his first vinyl release to come out in March.

Taking in seven tracks, 'The Tribe (Baila)' follows a number of digital-only releases by the DJ and producer who has been active in his native Venezuela since the '90s. All of the tracks featured, save for a remix by Nick León, were produced by Babatr between 2001 and 2005. Fellow raptor house artist, DJ Lemad, appears on two of the cuts.

"For me, the EP is a tribute to those rebellious, marginalised young people from the west of Caracas," the artist, real name Pedro Elías Corro, said in an Instagram post. "My idea was to express my musical roots – acid house, New Beat, techno, house, makina etc. – from my perspective."

'The Tribe (Baila)' marks the first release on new label ACA, and is due out on 2nd March. You can listen to previews below.

Corro previously featured as DJ Babatr on Nick León's standout 2022 track 'Xtasis', which DJ Mag premiered last summer, and which featured as one of our top tracks of 2022
