London's Rye Wax launches electronic music youth mentorship programme

South London music venue and record shop Rye Wax is launching a youth mentorship programme.

Set to run between April and June, Rye Wax Music Access will be based around masterclasses and workshops touching on everything from live electronic music performance to production, and will see aspiring musicians taking part in the scheme paired up with mentors working within the dance music industry.

The programme is open to people aged between 18 and 25, and mentors will include Rye Wax affiliates such as Medlar and FYI Chris, as well as Lia Mice and The Golden Filter. Each mentor will be paired with three different people for three sessions.

The deadline for applications is 9am BST on 10th April, and Rye Wax is especially encouraging applications from those who are "QTIBPOC / global majority, disabled and other groups underrepresented in the music industry".

Rye Wax is currently not open as a venue following the COVID-19 pandemic, but has plans to fully relaunch into the future.
