Loraine James announces new project, Whatever The Weather, on Ghostly International

Loraine James has revealed a new alias, Whatever The Weather.

Her first release under the moniker is a self-titled album, which is mastered by longtime influence Telefon Tel Aviv and will come out via the Ghostly International label on 8th April. Watch the video for '17ºC' from the album below.

The album sees James draw on much of the electronic music that she listened to during her later teenage years, by artists such as Lusine, HTRK and Telefon Tel Aviv. She adopted a jam-based approach while working on it, which she describes in a press release as "free-flowing, stopping when I felt like I was done".

You can pre-order 'Whatever The Weather' here.

James will mark the release of the album with a live show in London's Café Oto on 7th April. You can get tickets for that here.

'Whatever The Weather' follows the release of James' 2021 album under her own name 'Reflection', which came out on usual label home Hyperdub. Read DJ Mag's 2021 feature on Loraine James, published alongside the release of 'Reflection', here.
