New Glasgow club, SYMBØL, to open next week

Glasgow is getting a new club, SYMBØL.

Based at the city centre location of Sauchiehall Street, the 250-capacity basement club will officially open on Boxing Day. It has a Funktion-One sound system and specialist lighting rig.

"SYMBØL promotes a diverse music programme with a blend of opportunities for local DJs and space for artists and live acts to perform," said a post shared via the new venue's Instagram page.

Glasgow locals Slam, as well as venue owner Frazi.er, are among those set to play the launch party on 26th December. A further event, scheduled for 28th December, will host techno DJs such as Somewhen and Aiden.

SYMBØL is taking over the space that was previously used by Blue Arrow Jazz Club. That venue closed in October, blaming "increasingly hard" conditions for running a club. The new venue has undergone a refurbishment ahead of its launch.
