Róisín Murphy has announced a new album, ‘Hit Parade’ and shared a new track, ‘The Universe’. Watch the lyric video below.

The 13-track LP arrives on 8th September via Ninja Tune and was made alongside regular collaborator DJ Koze. "We worked remotely, in different countries sending tracks/ideas back and forth for several years," explained Murphy. "I always have to approach a new collaboration with openness and a willingness to learn and never more so than with this."

Murphy describes 'Hit Parade' as a "joyful record" about "love and sensuality" but one that's also tinged with darkness. "There’s contemplation of mortality which is meant to serve as reminder to me (and perhaps you the listener) to really live while we can.”

'The Universe' is "a sun-dappled sonic exploration" powered by guitars and electric piano.

“The universe at large is playful and terrifying," she said. "There is no discernible sense to it. The story that is always being told is on multiple levels, levels we don't see or understand. The experience of being alive is to be continually reminded of how utterly unaware we are of what is really going on all around us."

This new single follows her first slice of new material since 2021, the DJ Koze-produced 'CooCool', which is also featured on the album. Check out 'The Universe' below and pre-order 'Hit Parade' from Bandcamp here.

Last year, Murphy made her acting debut in Netflix fantasy series 'The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself'. She also launched a charity T-shirt collection in collaboration with Manchester queer club event Homobloc.
