Run-D.M.C. are set to headline an upcoming concert to mark the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop.

The gig, dubbed Hip Hop 50 Live, will take place in the borough in which the genre was founded, the Bronx, at New York's Yankee Stadium on Friday, 11th August. Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Ice Cube, Eve, Ghostface Killah, Lil' Kim, Fat Joe and Slick Rick are among the other artists listed to play at the show.

There will also be a special "Pillars of Hip-Hop" performance, taking in contributions from the genre's recognised founder DJ Kool Herc and his sister, Cindy Campbell, with Sugar Hill Gang, Roxanne Shanté, Kurtis Blow and others. Finally, the line-up is rounded out by a "Legendary DJ" performance featuring Clark Kent, Marley Marl, Mannie Fresh and Battlecat.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased via Ticketmaster.

DJ Kool Herc and other key genre figures, such as Missy Elliott and A Tribe Called Quest, were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
