Percy Jackson co-star, Alexandra Daddario, revealed she won’t be part of the upcoming Disney Plus show. She has remained in the role of Annabeth Chase in both the 2010 film and its subsequent sequel in 2013. Neither films struck gold and as such, probably put off any studio wanting to continue the film franchise.
In the latest episode of WrapWomen’s UnWrapped, Daddario was asked about her involvement in the upcoming show, in which she laughed a bit before declaring “No!” She did elaborate, however, and mentioned how she loved her time as Annabeth. She does, however, wish the best of luck for the newbies cast to inspire the next generation of actors.
“No! No, I loved Percy Jackson. Like, I loved it. When I stepped into Percy Jackson and got that job, I had no idea what it was. I was like, a bit part actor in New York City, you know? I was a kid, I was working at a bar, I didn’t have any idea of Hollywood or of all this stuff.
“I am so excited for the kids that are going to be cast in that and how they’ll inspire a new generation of young women. Like it’s so cool, Annabeth is a really inspiring character to people. But no, I don’t know anything about it beyond that, and I shouldn’t! I was just the girl in the movie.”
Disney has been working on creating this adaptation for a while. Having announced it during 2019’s Investors Day, the show retains some level of input by Rick Riordan, the author of the book series. It’s also rumored that some of the episodes will be directly written by him.
